Equality Maryland & Marylanders of Color Release a Groundbreaking Report
"Jumping The Broom:
A Black Perspective on Same Sex Marriage"
WASHINGTON, November 2006 — The National Black Justice Coalition, the nation’s only civil rights organization for Black lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people recently partnered with Marylanders of Color, an initiative of Equality Maryland, to produce Jumping The Broom: A Black Perspective on Same Sex Marriage. It was produced to initiate dialogue in Black churches, fraternal organizations, media outlets, and among Black political, civic and community leaders.
“Jumping the Broom gives voice to the thousands of Black same sex couples who are in love and have committed to spending their lives together, sharing life’s blessings and burdens,” said
